Accessibility support
If you are disabled or have a long-term health condition, we can offer support to help you engage with ARIA, navigate our funding application process, or carry out your project.
Engaging with ARIA
You can request reasonable adjustments if you need help when engaging with ARIA (for example, participating in a Programme Director’s discovery process, providing feedback on a published document, or attending a workshop). If you think you might need help, you can contact us at accessibility@aria.org.uk to discuss your individual needs.
ARIA might ask you if you require reasonable adjustments when we are in contact with you (for example, during the process of signing up for virtual or physical events).
Applying for ARIA funding
When you are applying for ARIA funding, you can request reasonable adjustments to help you with the application process. Examples of reasonable adjustments that ARIA can provide to applicants include:
- Providing you with accessible versions of documents (for example, large print, braille, or audio).
- Giving additional guidance on how to complete the application or answering questions.
- Extending deadlines for the submission of clarification questions or applications.
ARIA understands that the type of support required might differ from person to person. If you think you might need help, you can contact us at accessibility@aria.org.uk to discuss your individual needs. We would encourage you to contact us as early as possible. Additionally, it will help us to respond if you clearly indicate that your query relates to reasonable adjustments and let us know which funding opportunity you are intending to apply for.
If you are applying as part of an organisation, in most cases you should ask them if they are able to provide you with reasonable
adjustments to support your application (before or at the same time as asking ARIA). Under the Equality Act 2010 (and equivalent legislation in Northern Ireland), employers have a duty to provide reasonable adjustments and to remove barriers that place you at a substantial disadvantage due to your disability.
Support for existing ARIA R&D Creators
If you are an existing ARIA R&D Creator, we might be able to provide you with additional support if:
- You did not know what reasonable adjustments you needed when you applied for ARIA funding; or
- Your circumstances have changed since you applied.
If you think you might need help, you can reach out to your ARIA Programme team or you can contact us at accessibility@aria.org.uk to discuss your individual needs.
As above, if you applied as part of an organisation you should ask them if they are able to provide you with reasonable adjustments to support your work (before or at the same time as asking ARIA).
Engaging with organisations funded by ARIA and Activation Partners
If you are engaging with an organisation which is funded by ARIA, or with an ARIA Activation Partner, you should ask them if they are able to provide you with any reasonable adjustments required to support your engagement with them.
You can contact us at accessibility@aria.org.uk if you need our help or have any further questions.
