TA2 Machine Learning

TA2 will explore leveraging securely-boxed AI to train autonomous control systems that can be verified against mathematical models, improving performance and robustness. The workflow will involve forking and fine-tuning mainstream pre-trained frontier AI models to create verifiably safeguarded AI solutions. 

Key Dates:

• Phase 1 'Late' Application Deadline: 17 August 2025.

• Phase 2 Application Opens: 25 June 2025.

Meet the TA2, Phase 1 Creators

In TA2, Phase 1, we are supporting a handful of teams in drafting a full proposal for the TA2 Phase 2 funding call, where we allocate £18m to a new non-profit entity to pursue the Safeguarded AI ML agenda.

The TA2, Phase 1 Creators are working to develop comprehensive proposals for the larger TA2 Phase 2 work stream. This involves creating detailed technical roadmaps outlining how they will build the crucial machine learning components. Simultaneously, they are crafting rigorous organisational plans for the hosting entity, including top-tier governance and security standards, all with the aim of demonstrating their credible ability to advance the TA2 research agenda towards developing safe and transformative AI.

Inclusion in Phase 1 is limited to proposal development and a full solicitation will be launched for Phase 2 will open in October to both new and existing teams.
